Film Promo Material
Delivering a cinematic indie film campaign with minimal assets
Objective
To conceptualize and design a cohesive suite of promotional materials for the film Lurking Woods to support its limited cinema release. I developed a unified visual identity across high-impact posters, promotional apparel, and digital assets like Facebook banners. This creative direction was later extended to the film’s official DVD packaging, ensuring a consistent brand experience from theatrical debut to home media.
Because the film project operated within strict budgetary constraints, no professional high-resolution photography was available for the design process.
This required a resourceful approach, focusing on the creative enhancement of existing low-resolution assets to meet professional standards.
Navigating these limited resources was crucial, as it involved employing advanced editing and compositional techniques to ensure the final promotional materials remained visually compelling and suitable for print and digital display.
Approach

“Because the film project operated within strict budgetary constraints, no professional high-resolution photography was available for the design process.”
Result
To overcome the lack of professional still-photos, I extracted high-quality snapshots directly from the film’s raw video files and enhanced them with custom FX filters to build a cinematic base.
I also repurposed candid photos taken on mobile devices during production, significantly altering them through digital manipulation to fit the poster compositions.
By applying a Posterize effect, I was able to stylistically "increase" the perceived resolution of these lower-quality assets, turning technical limitations into a deliberate creative choice.
Finally, I integrated heavy grainy filters to reinforce the film's horror-slasher atmosphere, adding texture and grit that aligned perfectly with the genre’s aesthetic.
